Let’s talk about PDA which is a profile within the Autism spectrum. PDA-ers often are misunderstood as controlling or refusing to follow rules or meet expectations within school but more often than not they feel like they can’t meet demands due to extreme levels of anxiety and so become demand avoidant. Do you teach a pda-er? It’s something I wish I’d known more about when I started teaching as in hindsight I’ve definitely taught some undiagnosed PDA learners and could have better supported them if I’d had the right tools and info.
